A Lifelong Passion for Dogs
From a young age, my life has been intertwined with dogs. Growing up, I was surrounded by these wonderful creatures, starting with my grandparents' loyal liver and white Springer Spaniel. Later, my dad gifted me my own black and white Springer for doing well in school - a motivation that truly paid off for that one year! Whether it was our family pets, friends' dogs, or simply dogs I met in the streets, I have always been captivated by them.
Fourteen years ago, I welcomed my first dog, a Boxer, into my life and year after a lovely Staffie cross joined him. This experience was a true baptism of fire, teaching me the highs and lows of dog ownership. I currently share my home with two lovely Serbian rescues and a rather fearful Bosnian foster who has been let down by humans.
My journey into professional dog training and behaviour began with extensive learning from Dr. Ian Dunbar and going on to earn a diploma in both Dog Behaviour and Canine Communication. What started as a hobby quickly grew into First Friend. To stay at the forefront of dog behaviour and training, I continually engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and am currently studying canine acupressure and have completed a Spiritual Animal Healer Programme to help dogs from the inside out.
Next year, I plan to complete a canine acupressure course, which will add to my offerings.
At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that all behaviour begins with human interaction. We can't expect our dogs to thrive if they're constantly receiving mixed signals. While I am a dog behaviourist, I recognize that YOU are the pivotal component in re-establishing a harmonious dog-human relationship. My goal is to provide you with simple, yet effective strategies to bring your dog back to its natural, calm state.
